Ole Miss Associate Provost to speak at Northwest graduation May 12

Senatobia, MS (04/26/2017) — Northwest Mississippi Community College will hold its 101st graduation exercises on Friday, May 12. The Associate of Arts ceremony will be held at 8 a.m.; the Career Certificate at 11:30 a.m. and the Associate of Applied Science will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Anthony Paul Ammeter, associate provost of Outreach for the University of Mississippi will serve as keynote speaker for the college's three graduation ceremonies, which will be held at Howard Coliseum on the Senatobia campus.

Ammeter holds a joint appointment as an associate professor of Management and Management Information Systems in the School of Business Administration. He received his doctorate in Organization Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and his Master of Business Administration in Management from the University of Manitoba.

He came to Ole Miss in 2002. Before coming to Ole Miss, Ammeter taught at the University of Texas in Austin and at the University of Missouri at Rolla.

According to his online biography, Ammeter was named interim associate provost for Outreach and Continuing Studies in July of 2015. In this role, Ammeter's leadership responsibilities include regional campuses, summer school, online education, college and pre-college special programs, and professional development and lifelong learning. He also serves as the interim dean for the Bachelor of General Studies program and assists and advises the provost in a variety of academic matters.

He serves on several committees at Ole Miss, and his research and work has been published extensively. In 2006, he was named Outstanding Campus MBA Professor of the Year and Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In 2000-2001, he received the Outstanding Teaching Award at the University of Missouri - Rolla, and in 1998-1999 he was named Outstanding Graduate Student Teacher for the University of Texas Management Department. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Business Honor Society and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.
