MEDIA INVITE: LOCATION CHANGE: Northwest Mississippi Community College to Host "Celebration of Champions" April 23 SENATOBIA, MISS.

Senatobia, MS (04/22/2025) — LOCATION CHANGE FOR APRIL 23 - This event has been moved indoors to Howard Coliseum, between the Heindl Center and Jim Miles baseball field.

Northwest Mississippi Community College invites members of the media and the public to the Northwest Celebration of Champions on Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place in Howard Coliseum off of Alumni Drive, next to the Jim Miles baseball field. This special event will honor the remarkable achievements of Northwest students, athletes, faculty, and staff from the 2024-25 academic year. It promises to be a high-spirited evening celebrating excellence across academics, athletics, leadership, and service.

Honorees include: The NJCAA Region 23 and MACCC Champion Football Team

The MACCC Champion Volleyball Team

The Back-to-Back National Champion All-Girl Cheerleading Team

The Back-to-Back National Champion Co-Ed Cheerleading Team

The Back-to-Back National Champion Dance Team

The Undefeated (22-0) National Champion Women's Soccer Team, winners of conference (MACCC), region 23 and national titles (NJCAA)

The 2024-25 Homecoming Queen

Mr. and Miss Northwest from the Oxford, Senatobia and DeSoto campuses

Hall of Fame inductees

Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team members

William Winter Scholar award recipients: Daniel Alderman of Hernando (sophomore general college student) and Carla Townsend, History Instructor

MACCC Coaches of the Year: James Beattie (Women's Soccer) and Benjy Parker (Football)

MS Humanities Council Teacher of the Year: Ramona Brawner, English Instructor

Newly accredited instructors through ACUE (American College and University Educators)

The 2025 Employees of the Month

Legendary baseball coach Mark Carson, who is now the winningest coach in Northwest history And more students, staff, and faculty who made this year one to remember!

The event is open to the public and will be bookended by Northwest baseball games against Itawamba Community College. Honorees will be available for media interviews before and after the ceremony. Please RSVP with Dr. Dale for specific interviews. Bonus Coverage: In advance of the event, SuperTalk Mississippi will host a statewide live remote broadcast of SportsTalk Mississippi from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on-site, providing live coverage and interviews from Northwest's Senatobia campus.
