Dimitri Blunt of Grenada Announced as Northwest Cheerleader for 2012-2013

Dimitri Blunt of Grenada was among 21 students selected as Ranger cheerleaders for the 2012-2013 season at Northwest Mississippi Community College, according to Liesl Davenport, cheer sponsor. Tryouts were held in the McLendon Center on the Senatobia campus on April 20 and 21.

Students selected for the squad are: Ashley Anderson, Haleigh Ash, Ashley Jones and Meghan Waddell, all of Olive Branch; Courtney Daniels, Nolan Shackelford, Shelby Stuart and Tyler Waldrop, all of Senatobia; Carolin Ouch and Catherine Taylor, both of Southaven and Lauren Carson and Shelbi Dunlap of Coldwater; Lindsay Abston of Byhalia, Hali Adams of Indianola, Denzel Alexander of Horn Lake, Samantha Beard of Sarah, Dimitri Blunt of Grenada, Reggie Dickerson of Millington, Tenn., Mario Key of Sledge, Ashley McNair of Philadelphia and Tyler Pittman of Batesville. Squad captains are Taylor, McNair and Waldrop.

The Ranger cheerleaders are a non-competitive squad that cheers at all football games and all home basketball games. They travel with sporting teams to playoff games, tournaments and playoff games. Scholarships are available for those participating in cheerleading. Northwest's cheerleading coach is Angie Darbonne.
