Hannah Goff Inducted into 2013 Hall of Fame at Northwest

Hannah Goff of Hernando was among those recently inducted into the 2013 Hall of Fame at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Northwest President, Dr. Gary Lee Spears, congratulated 11 students for their induction into the 2013 Hall of Fame at the Feb. 14 meeting of the Northwest Board of Trustees meeting on the Senatobia campus.

Brandy Birmingham of Olive Branch is a pre-radiological sciences major with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She has been active in the Allied Health Organization, served as an officer in the Northwest Education Association and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Baptist Student Union. Birmingham has been honored as the Rotary Student of the Month and was also on the President's List. Her goal is to obtain a bachelor's degree in radiation therapy.

Hannah Goff of Hernando, who served as president of the Northwest Education Association, is an elementary education major. She is also a member of the Environmental Service Organization and the Baptist Student Union. While at Northwest, she was honored as an Outstanding Student, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and as Rotary Student of the Month. Goff plans to teach elementary students and hopefully work her way up into a principal's office. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.49.

Emily Hatcher of Clevelan, who has a cumulative GPA of 3.86, is an elementary education major. She plays softball for Northwest and is an officer in Phi Theta Kappa. Hatcher was a maid on the 2011 Homecoming Court, and was on the President's List. She plans to attend Delta State University and pursue a bachelor's in elementary education. She also plans to pursue a master's degree and to teach.

Shelby Louwerens of Senatobia, a journalism major, has served as editor of the school's newspaper, The Ranger Rocket, for both her freshman and sophomore years. She also worked on the school's yearbook, The Rocketeer. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Baptist Student Union. Louwerens plans to attend The University of Mississippi and complete her bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism. Her main career goal is to find a job working in a newspaper and covering court cases. Her cumulative GPA at Northwest is 3.88.

Cassie Marsh of Olive Branch is a music education major who has a cumulative GPA of 3.33. She is a member of the Northwest Concert Band, Jazz Band, Steel Band, Ranger Marching Band and the Brass Ensemble. She has served as an officer for Phi Theta Kappa. After graduation from Northwest, Marsh plans to attend Mississippi State University to pursue a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's in counseling. She would like to be a high school counselor.

Jessica Reeder of Sardis, who is majoring in elementary education, has served as president of the Baptist Student Union. She has been involved with the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Mu Alpha Theta Math Society, and the Northwest Education Association. She has also been on the dean's list. Reeder wants to major in elementary education and minor in English at a university and then become a missionary. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.40.

Deborah Joy Thompson of Hernando, a hotel and restaurant management technology major at the DeSoto Center, has excelled in several DECA competitions during her time at Northwest, including serving as both a local and state officer and as a top statewide and international winner for her freshman and sophomore years. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and has received an academic leadership award at Northwest. She has a cumulative GPA of 4.0 and plans to become a culinary educator.

Ryan Vargo of Hernando was named in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is an accounting major at the DeSoto Center who aspires to complete a master's degree in accountancy from The University of Mississippi. He has a cumulative GPA of 3.86. He hopes to one day open a small accounting firm.

Lauren Woods of Lewisburg, a biology major at the DeSoto Center, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Spanish Club. She was elected the 2012 Homecoming Queen for the DeSoto Center and as Miss NWCC-DeSoto. She was also selected as Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.65. She hopes to attend The University of Tennessee Dental School, become a dentist and open her own practice one day.

Jasmine Bobo of Pittsboro, who is majoring in healthcare data technology at the Lafayette-Yalobusha Tecnical Center, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Beta Lambda and was on the President's and Dean's lists. Her cumulative GPA is 3.66. She wants to continue to grow in the healthcare field and help others as much as she can.

Beth Ray of Myrtle, a general college major at the Lafayette-Yalobusha Technical Center, has a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was selected as Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She would like to continue her education, do her best in all that she does and give back to her community.
