Jessica Cagle of Southaven Competes at Annual State Nursing Conference

2012 Apr 16

Jessica Cagle of Southaven was among several nursing students from Northwest Mississippi Community College who competed in events at the annual Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Student Association (MOSA) conference held at Hinds Community College, Rankin Campus March 28-29.

Darla Moneymaker of Walls was elected MOSA state treasurer. Other honors Northwest received were the Spirit of the Community Award for the food drive and auction held for HOPE Ministries in Senatobia last November. Northwest SNA donated approximately 1,000 canned and non-perishable goods to benefit those in need. Northwest also won honors for Overall Best T-Shirt. The t-shirts were designed by nursing students in the fall semester and sold as a fundraiser. The students also won for Most Creative Scrapbook. The scrapbook was a compilation of Division of Nursing events for the Fall 2011 and the Spring 2012 semester.

Northwest came in fourth place in the Student Knowledge Bowl. Students participating in the event were Summer Putt of Senatobia and Kelly Jones of Southaven. Kacy Acree of Nesbit was nominated for MOSA president.

"I am so proud of all of our students who attended the conference, and I am especially proud of those who ran for office, those who supported them and those who spent their own time compiling our award-winning scrapbook. Our commitment to this organization is long-standing, and we look forward to future participation in this professional group of nursing students, nurses, nurse administrators and nurse educators who promote the interests of our graduates as they pursue their nursing careers," said Ellen Williams, dean of Northwest's Nursing Division.
