Cast and crew named for Northwest's production of "Waiting for Godot"

Senatobia, MS (03/07/2018) — The Northwest Mississippi Community College Theatre Department is in rehearsals for its next production, Waiting for Godot, a tragicomedy in two acts written by Samuel Beckett.

Performance times for the show are Wednesday, Apr. 25, Friday, Apr. 27 and Saturday, Apr. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Apr. 29 at 2 p.m. General admission is $5 and free for Northwest students with IDs.

The cast and crew for the production have been announced, according to director Alyssa Algee, Northwest technical director.

Cast members are Joseph Vogelsang of Hernando as Vladimir (Didi); Preslie Anne Cowley of Cleveland as Estragon (Gogo); Ashton Dye of Sarah as Pozzo; Griffin Johnson of Olive Branch as Lucky and Steile Warren of Lake Cormorant as Boy.

Crew members are Victoria Newton of Nesbit and Mya Murrell of Senatobia, student designers; Kelton Holman of Charleston and Matt Williams of Hernando, stage managers; Brynden Foster of Senatobia; Jon Tackett of Hernando and Warren, lighting crew; Murell, Samuel Jones of Coldwater and Kaylen Hill of Pope, costumes crew and Warren, Foster, Murrell and Devonte Tunstall of Olive Branch, house crew. Tackett is house manager for the play.

According to StageAgent.com, "Two men, Vladimir (Didi) and Estragon (Gogo), meet near a tree. They while away the hours, talking philosophy, bodily functions, and sharing a few measly turnips, all while waiting for a man named Godot -- who never seems to come. They are joined by the oafish, bombastic Pozzo, his leashed human slave, Lucky, and eventually by a young boy, who informs them that that although Godot will not come today, he surely will tomorrow."

All performances will be held at the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus. For more information, contact Algee at 662-562-3332 or email aalgee@northwestms.edu.
