Heindl Center for the Performing Arts Welcomes New Director, Dr. Blake Bostick

Senatobia, MS (11/09/2023) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Heindl Center for the Performing Arts welcomes new director, Dr. Blake Bostick of Nesbit.

Bostick has been a part of the DeSoto County community for most of his life and is father of three with his high school sweetheart, Lindsey. Prior to becoming director of the Heindl Center, he served as director of Evening Programs at Northwest's DeSoto Center in Southaven. Bostick also serves as worship pastor and elder at Vintage Church in Horn Lake, where he leads music for the Sunday service and has done so for the past 10 years.

He graduated with a degree in music in 2010, and got his M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi. Then in 2022, he received his Doctor of Education with a concentration in higher education from Delta State University.

"Serving as the director of the Heindl Center is a wonderful convergence of my musical and academic background from my formal education and my career experience," Bostick said.

Bostick began his career at Ole Miss in 2010, where he did four years of recruiting/admissions, before being named as the director of Evening Programs at DeSoto Center in 2018. He said that the skills he acquired from his time at Northwest are very transferable to what he does now.

"While different than academic administration, serving as director of the Heindl Center has many similar administrative aspects," Bostick said. "Recruitment is still a large part of my job because the goal is to provide quality experiences that draw people and make them want to come back again and again."

The first big show that Bostick attended at the Heindl Center was "One Vision of Queen."

"I was struck by how welcoming the entire experience was, the high quality of the performance and the venue, and the wonderful time everyone had," Bostick said. "Like anyone, walking into the Heindl Center for the first time was awe-inspiring for me."

Bostick said that this is a blessing and privilege. He hopes to help provide entertainment that makes people want to come back time and time again.

"For those who haven't had the chance to experience that here yet, I personally invite you to come to the Heindl Center for a show and to experience all we have to offer," Bostick said.
