Northwest Soiree Announces their Honorees

by Sarah Smith

Senatobia, MS (10/14/2024) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Foundation has officially announced the honorees for the 2025 Northwest Soiree, "Masquerade Among the Stars," which will be held March 29, 2025. This year's event is once again presented by Mini Systems, Inc. of Batesville.

The event is the college's premiere fundraising and community recognition event at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts on the main campus in Senatobia. This formal ticketed event will honor community award recipients who have contributed to the legacy of excellence at Northwest and will feature a soon-to-be-announced performer.

At the Northwest Soiree, four awards will be given at the formal event ranging from professional achievement to contribution to Northwest and their communities.

The first honoree is Dr. Robert Barnes, who is receiving the Young Alumni Professional Achievement Award for his outstanding success as a medical physician. He is a board-certified internal medicine physician who focuses on primary care and is located at the Panola Medical Center in Batesville.

Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Robert "Bobby" Chamberlin is the recipient of the Alumni Professional Achievement Award. Justice Chamberlin has been serving the 17th Circuit since November of 2016. A native of Hernando, he attended Northwest in the 1970s before going on to study at the University of Mississippi.

Winner of the Spirit of Northwest Award goes to Dr. Ed Field who has supported the college tremendously. Dr. Field is an orthopedic physician who has received many awards for his accomplishments such as the Ole Miss Sports Medicine Award, the Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association Sports Medicine Person of the Year and the Mississippi Valley State University Commitment of Excellence Award. He serves as a physician for various institutions.

The Organization of the Year Award goes to Panola Partnership. Their mission is to encourage, foster and stimulate growth of commerce in Panola County. Their hope is to help their communities to continue to grow by helping businesses and industries prosper increasing economic and career opportunities to improve the region's workforce skills and education.
