Students receive Hall of Fame honors

Seventeen Northwest Mississippi Community College students have been inducted into the 2024-25 Hall of Fame, the highest honor a student can achieve at the college.

The selection of students named to the Hall of Fame is based on their academic accomplishments and involvement in student life at Northwest. Hall of Fame nominations are submitted by Northwest instructors and voted on by a committee. This year's honorees were recognized at the Feb. 13 Board of Trustees meeting on the Senatobia campus.

Ten students attend the Senatobia campus.

Shelby Andersen of Ashland is an Olive Branch High School graduate. She is attending the Senatobia campus where she serves as an officer for the Northwest Players Club and participates in the Northwest Singers/Chorale and theatre productions. Andersen is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Northwest Gamers Club, and Northwest Songwriters Club. She is majoring in music education and plans to transfer to Mississippi State University to continue her education toward a bachelor's degree in music education. Her career goal is to be a vocal director in theatre while teaching choir ensembles.

Mary-Britton Faulkner of Senatobia graduated from Senatobia High School and is currently attending the Senatobia campus. She is a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Baptist Student Union, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Rangers for Christ. Faulkner was a member of the Lady Ranger softball team where she earned Academic All-MACJC with distinguished honors, NJCAA All-Academic second team, President's List, and Academic All-MACCC. Her career goal is to become a physical therapy assistant and help others overcome adversity and adapt their way of life to tackle whatever life may throw their way.

Allison Reed Greer of Oxford is a graduate of Oxford High School who attends the Senatobia campus and is majoring in general studies. Greer is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a defender on the 2024 NJCAA national champion Lady Ranger soccer team. She was honorable mention All-MACCC her sophomore year and made NJCAA All-Academic first team following her freshman year. Greer was a two-time selection to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and has earned a spot on the President's List for the fall 2023, spring 2024 and fall 2024 semesters. She was voted as the 2024 Homecoming queen and was a Homecoming maid in 2023. After college, her goal is to be a pediatric speech therapist and own her own clinic.

Jackson Hill of Rector, Arkansas, is a graduate of Rector High School. He is a student in the Agricultural Technology/John Deere Tech program on the Senatobia campus. Hill has appeared on the President's List three consecutive semesters-fall 2023, spring 2024 and fall 2024. His career goal is to become a John Deere technician.

Owen Hardin is from Greenville and attended Washington School. He is majoring in chemistry at the Senatobia campus and serves as an officer for Phi Theta Kappa and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Hardin is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Baptist Student Union, and Honors Institute and is a Northwest Pathfinder and resident assistant. He served as an Orientation leader and was recently named Mr. NWCC for the Senatobia campus. One of his career goals is to be in the health field, either as a physician or physician assistant.

Sabria Jackson of Olive Branch graduated from Olive Branch High School. She attends the Senatobia campus and is majoring in engineering. She is a member of the Trio Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Pre-Health Society, and Northwest Singers/Chorale and is the Student Government Association president and was an Orientation leader. Jackson plans to transfer from Northwest and attend the University of Memphis, majoring in mathematics with a concentration in data science. She hopes to start a career as a data scientist after receiving her bachelor's degree.

Jackson Jenkins of Senatobia graduated from Magnolia Heights School. He is attending the Senatobia campus and majoring in mechanical engineering. At Northwest, Jenkins is a captain of the Northwest baseball team and was selected NJCAA All-Academic first team after the 2024 season. His freshman year he appeared on the President's List for the fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters, while also being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll twice. He is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Theta Kappa, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Rangers for Christ. His career goal is to become a mechanical engineer specializing in HVAC. He will design air conditioning units and ducts for commercial buildings.

Anna Denton Landrum of Hernando graduated from Hernando High School. She is majoring in musical theatre at the Senatobia campus. Landrum is currently undecided about which university she would like to attend to earn her bachelor's degree in musical theatre. She plans to pursue a career in performance and dance in professional theatre. She also plans to obtain a master's degree so she can teach theatre/musical theatre at the college level. At Northwest, she is president of the Northwest Players Club and has participated in college theatre productions. She is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Student Government Association.

Taylor Lindsey of Walls graduated from Lake Cormorant High School and is majoring in entertainment industry studies at the Senatobia campus. She is a member of Honors Institute and Baptist Student Union. Lindsey is involved in several Fine Arts organizations, such as the Northwest Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Winds, Northwest Jazz Band, theatre productions, and the Northwest Ranger Band. She is also an officer of Phi Theta Kappa, was selected Rotary Club Student of the Month and has appeared on the President's List three consecutive semesters. Her goal is to work in the entertainment industry as a producer, audio engineer, and eventually a manager.

Katy Kendell Ware of Winona graduated from Winona Christian School and is now majoring in kinesiology at the Senatobia campus. Ware is president of Phi Theta Kappa, president of Rangers for Christ, an officer of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and captain of the 2025 UCA/UDA national champion Ranger cheerleaders. She is also a member of the Pre-Health Society and Honors Institute, and is a Pathfinder. Ware was voted a freshman Homecoming maid and was Campus Beauty in the Beauty Review. She was recently named Miss NWCC for the Senatobia campus. After graduating from Northwest, Ware will further her education in kinesiology at Mississippi State University with a minor in exercise science. She plans to attend a chiropractic program and finish with a Doctor of Chiropractic for people and horses.

Four students attend the DeSoto campus.

Cian Haynes of Olive Branch graduated from Independent School of Thought and is attending the DeSoto campus, majoring in Practical Nursing. He is a member of the Practical Nursing Club and a student leader of the Care Pregnancy Resource Center baby shower, where he coordinated the class in collecting items for the community organization in Southaven. He plans to earn his LPN and BSN and work toward becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Xitlaly Magana-Ramirez of Olive Branch graduated from Center Hill High School. She attends the DeSoto campus and is majoring in business administration. She is a Phi Theta Kappa officer, a member of the Honors Institute, a Homecoming maid and was recently named Miss NWCC for the DeSoto campus. She plans to continue her education at a university and earn her bachelor's degree in business administration. She hopes to improve her leadership performance and start her own business.

Alaina Pitts of Holly Springs was homeschooled and now attends the DeSoto campus, majoring in Marketing Management Technology. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her family owns DeSoto Air and Plumbing, and she plans to use her knowledge and skills toward the business one day.

Ra'una Robinson of Starkville graduated from Starkville High School. She is attending the DeSoto campus and majoring in Respiratory Therapy. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Respiratory Care Society, and the Gospel Choir. After graduating from Northwest, she plans to take the board exam to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist, get her bachelor's degree in science and attend medical school to become an anesthesiologist.

Three students attend the Oxford campus.

Ava Rodgers of Byhalia graduated from Marshall Academy. She is attending the Oxford campus where she is majoring in marketing and has appeared on the Vice President's List twice. Rodgers is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa, a Ranger content creator, and a Pathfinder. She was selected as a Homecoming maid and Orientation leader and was named campus beauty in the Beauty Review. Rodgers was recently named Miss NWCC for the Oxford campus.

Jacob Breland of Water Valley graduated from South Choctaw Academy. He attends the Oxford campus and is majoring in chemical engineering. He is Phi Theta Kappa president, a member of Honors Institute, and a Pathfinder. After Northwest, he plans to attend Mississippi State University to earn his bachelor's degree. He hopes to one day work at a petroleum plant.

Makinley Wilson of Batesville graduated from South Panola High School. She attends the Oxford campus and is majoring in Cosmetology. She is an officer of the Cosmetology Club and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her career goal is to launch her own salon and spa in her hometown. She wishes to help clients look and feel their best.
