Northwest Communications staff brings home six awards from state competition

Senatobia, MS (06/13/2018) — Members of Northwest Mississippi Community College's Office of Communications brought home six awards at the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) annual conference May 22 in Ridgeland. The conference featured guest speakers covering topics relevant to public relations activities at the state's universities and community colleges as well as an awards luncheon.

A first place award went to Julie Bauer, director of Communications, LaJuan Tallo, assistant director of Communications/Public Information and Sybil Canon, associate vice president of Development and Special Projects for the college's alumni magazine, "Northwest Now" (Institutional Magazine Category). Jennifer Corbin, graphic designer, earned a first place award for "Always a Ranger" alumni brochure (Brochure Category).

Second place awards were given to Tallo for the "2017 Scholarship Recognition Ceremony" program (Special Publications Category); Bauer and Corbin for "Variable Data Success Story Recruitment Mailer" (Admissions and Recruitment Piece Category) and to Kevin Maloney, sports information director and Brian Lentz, assistant sports information director for the "2017 Football Media Guide" (Sports Media Guide Category). Former graphic designer Lindsay Stafford earned a second place award for "Berenstain Bears" (Single Piece of Artwork-Non Sports Category). Northwest competes against community and junior colleges in the Junior Division.
