Dog Man: the Musical Comes to Heindl Center April 24
Senatobia, MS (04/03/2024) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Heindl Center for the Performing Arts is hosting "Dog Man: The Musical" the touring production April 20 at 3 p.m.
Dog Man is based on the graphic novels of the same name by Dav Pilkey that follow best buds George and Harold, who have been creating comics for years. When they hit fifth grade, they decide to create a musical based on their character, Dog Man.
The premise of this musical is the crime fighting Dog Man as he defends against crime and chews on furniture. Dog Man is part dog, part man, and as the show says, "ALL HERO." He has the head of a dog, and the body of a policeman. Follow the story of Dog Man as he tries to save the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and his army and Beasty Buildings, and Petey - the world's most evil cat.
"As part of our children's performing arts series, we are delighted to invite you to the touring family-friendly delight, Dog Man: The Musical," said Dr. Blake Bostick, director of the Heindl Center. "Based on the worldwide bestselling series, this is a hilarious and heartwarming production following the chronicles of Dog Man, who, with the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture."
Pilkey, the author of the Dog Man books, also created other popular kids' comics such as "Captain Underpants" and "Cat Kid Comic Club."
The show writer is Kevin Del Aguila and the composer is Brad Alexander, who made shows like "Peg + Cat," "Click, Clack, Moo," and "Clifford the Big Red Dog."
