Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch to be Honored at Northwest Soiree
Senatobia, MS (02/20/2026) — The Northwest Mississippi Community College Foundation is proud to announce that Mississippi's first female attorney general, Lynn Fitch, is receiving the Alumni Professional Achievement Award at their annual fundraising event, The Northwest Soiree: A Garden Gala on April 18, 2026, at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts.
The Holly Springs native attended Northwest after graduating high school from Marshall Academy. After her time at Northwest, she received both her bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi at only 23 years old. AG Fitch credited a large part being able to get through college so quickly to Northwest, which allowed her to take college-level classes as she attended high school.
Afterwards, she began her career in law and politics, working at the attorney general's office as a Special Assistant Attorney General. Afterwards, she continued her career and advanced her skills through both private and public practice service.
Fitch was named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People in the World, and Worth Magazine named her on their Worthy 100. She has been named multiple times on Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential, was selected as an Outstanding Woman Lawyer of 2012, and a Woman Trailblazer by the Mississippi Bar Association.
AG Fitch delivered the college's commencement address to fall graduates in December of 2024. She also visited Northwest to talk to students and staff about her "One Pill Can Kill" campaign that highlights the struggle against fentanyl. Being the attorney general is Fitch's greatest honor, and her goal is to be able to help others through this office. Two prominent ways she has accomplished this is through two campaigns headed by her office - one fights drugs and one is fighting against human trafficking. These initiatives work on informing people so they can be part of the solution. These initiatives are aimed at making Mississippi safer and healthier for all its population. AG Fitch said serving the people is her greatest goal.
The Soiree will include a social hour, an awards ceremony, and a live performance by Dave Barnes. Funds raised through the event, which is presented by Mini Systems, Inc., help move forward the Northwest vision of transforming students' lives, enriching our communities, and striving for excellence in our educational programs and services. Last year, the Soiree raised over $140,000 for students.
