Northwest and Ole Miss DeSoto 2+2 Scholarship Golf Tournament Wins Again for Students

Senatobia, MS (09/14/2026) — Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi DeSoto joined together on Sept. 10, 2026, for their 2+2 Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament at Cherokee Valley Golf Club in Olive Branch, which benefits the Northwest and Ole Miss 2+2 Scholarship.

The 2026 winners who took home first place were Heavenly Sunshine Property Services team with Curt Spencer, Ethan Spencer, Ed Schreiner and Trent Adams. In second place was the Bank Plus team with Kevin Medlin, Bryant Cashion, JD Sanders, and Landon DeStefano. In third place was the Bolton & Associates with NWCC Golf Team, and their team were compromised by Ceasar Ingendorf, Atharv Sharma, Cole Elander, Coach Rhett Gullet. Joey Lenn won Hole-in-One. Jerry McBride and Andy Rice took home the win for the putting contest, and the Longest Drive went to Trent Adams.

This event has been supporting students for over 20 years, and has funded the 2+2 Scholarship benefitting students that first get their associate degree at Northwest then their bachelor's at Ole Miss. This year 12 students at Northwest received the 2+2 Scholarship with a total contribution of $18,000.

"For more than 20 years, this tournament has raised scholarship dollars for DeSoto County students through Ole Miss's and Northwest's partnership," said Ole Miss Director of DeSoto and Grenada campuses Dr. April Holifield-Scott. "That kind of longevity doesn't happen without the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who keep coming back year after year, and we're grateful for every one of them."

This year was the highest sponsorship involvement with 36 participating sponsors. This year's presenting sponsors were Huntington Bank and Northcentral Electric Cooperative. In addition to the presenting sponsors, lunch was sponsored by Central BBQ, this year's gold sponsors were Renasant Bank and Mini Systems. The Silver sponsors were Brown Insurance, Johnny Coleman Builders, Sky Lake Construction, Entergy, Jimmy Gray Chevrolet, CenturyFirst Credit Union, and Nick Linton Memorial Junior Golf Tournament. This year's Bronze sponsors were Bolton & Associates / Merril Lynch, Guaranty Bank, Bank Plus, Duncan Williams Asset Management, Hollingsworth Paving, Inc., First Security Bank, Baptist Memorial - DeSoto, Windstone Dental, Memphis Outpatient Detox, Modern Woodman of America, Specialty Orthopedic Group, and Abe's Construction. And the Hole Sponsors were Bridgeforth Realty, Angela Kidd Insurance, Dale Thompson, Harvey Cook with Raymond James, Benefit Concepts, Mainline Office Products, Tanger Outlets Southaven/Memphis, Hillwood Development, Thrivent, State Farm - Ryan England. In-kind partnerships were with Paulsen Printing and A&B Distributing Co.
