by Sarah Smith-Hutchinson

Senatobia, MS (11/03/2025) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Heindl Center for the Performing Arts welcomes Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder to the stage on Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The Grammy Award-winning artist got his start over 60 years ago, and since then he has become a world-famous act with his talent for mandolin, banjo, guitar and fiddle. He may have become famous for his bluegrass roots, but the Kentucky native's musical journey has spanned through various genres around the world.

"Ricky struck his first chords on a mandolin over 60 years ago, and is known around the world as a virtuoso performer in bluegrass, roots, and country music. With 11 No. 1 singles, multiple Hall of Fame inductions, and the National Medal of Arts, Ricky Skaggs is among the most significant musicians in recent country music history. So come hear a wonderful night of lively, distinctively American roots music with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder," said Dr. Blake Bostick, director of the Heindl Center.
