The Heindl Center Stage Welcomes Christian Rock Artist Crowder on Sunday, Sept. 14 By Sarah Smith

by Sarah Smith

Senatobia, MS (09/09/2025) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Heindl Center for the Performing Arts welcomes Christian rock artist Crowder to its stage on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. alongside singer-songwriter, Blessing Offor.

David Crowder has been out and about singing for over 20 years now, first starting with the David Crowder Band, which was founded in the midst of Waco with a few students at Baylor University who wanted to recruit their friends to come to church.

Crowder describes how he grew up as half Baptist and half Pentecostal with a dad who was a car insurance salesman and a mother who was a social worker. In a thick cloud of Aqua Net, smack dab in the 80s, he grew up watching and listening to the likes of Elvis, Willie Nelson, Olivia Newton John amongst others.

In 2014, Crowder released his first solo album "Neon Steeple" which was a success for the solo artist. He earned a Grammy nomination for the song "Come as You Are."

"We have the privilege of hosting an electrifying night of music with Crowder, one of Christian music's most innovative and enduring acts," said director of the Heindl Center, Dr. Blake Bostick. "One of the most influential voices in Contemporary Christian Music, Crowder has had five Grammy nominations, and more than 20 Dove Award nominations (including 5 wins), and five #1 radio singles, including hits like 'Come As You Are,' 'Good God Almighty,' and 'Grave Robber.' He is known for soulful vocals, an innovative blend of folk, rock, electronic, and urban elements, and an ability to seamlessly blend genres through high energy performances. Don't miss an unforgettable night of soul-stirring music and powerful worship with Crowder at the Heindl Center on September 14."
