Northwest announces 2015-2016 Hall of Fame

Ten Northwest Mississippi Community College students have been inducted into the 2015 -2016 Northwest Hall of Fame, the highest honor a Northwest student can attain based upon their academic prowess and involvement in student life at the college. The group was honored at the Feb. 11 Board of Trustees meeting on the Senatobia campus.

Northwest announces Outstanding Students

Faculty members at Northwest Mississippi Community College have named the college's 2013-2014 Outstanding Students, according to college officials. One outstanding student is chosen by faculty for each major within a department. The student must attend full-time, and only one outstanding student may be chosen for each major. Outstanding students are named on Senatobia, DeSoto Center and Oxford Center campuses. The students will be pictured in the college's yearbook "The Rocketeer" and should report to the appropriate office to have their portrait made for this feature. Senatobia Campus: Students should go to the Communications Office, located in the Yalobusha Building, beginning Tuesday, January 21, 2014, through Thursday, January 23, 2014, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. No Appointment is necessary. DeSoto Center: Students should go to Northwest's main office suite at the DeSoto Center on Thursday, January 23, 2013, for your sitting. Photos will be taken from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on that day. Northwest students attend Computing Experience Program at MSU

Since the program began in 2010, Northwest Mississippi Community College has sent more participants to the Computing Experience Program at Mississippi State UniversityaEUR"a competitive, five-week, full-scholarship program intended for first-year community college students pursuing majors in business information systems, computer engineering, computer science or software engineeringaEUR"than any other community college in the state. Meet the Rangers held Aug. 27

Northwest Mississippi Community College recognized all those who make the fall athletic season successful at its annual Meet the Rangers event on Aug. 27 in Senatobia. Members of the Ranger football team, men's and women's soccer teams, Ranger Marching Band and Color Guard, Rangerettes, cheerleaders and coaches were recognized at the event. The Ranger Band gave a preview of this year's halftime show featuring the music of Earth, Wind and Fire. Northwest Sports Information Director, Kevin Maloney, was the event emcee, introducing the student athletes and performers and recognizing the coaching staffs. Area students recognized were:

Six Northwest Mississippi Community College students, accompanied by criminal justice instructors Robert Cox and Willie Sumner, attended the 13th annual Criminal Justice Conference at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College March 30-31. This conference is supported by the Gulf Coast area police departments, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations. Northwest Division Of Nursing Students Participate In Pediatric Project

Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Nursing students recently participated in a pediatric teaching project at Shadow Oaks Elementary School in Horn Lake. The 52 students enrolled in the pediatric nursing course presented subjects to the children including hand washing, germs, choking, nutrition, hygiene, dental care, playground safety and keeping hands to self, according to Northwest Division of Nursing instructor Sandra Davis. "Rangers Go Pink" a success at Northwest

A vibrant pink replaced the usual sea of red and blue that regularly floods Northwest Mississippi Community College football stands as Ranger fans came out in droves dressed to support breast cancer awareness during the "Rangers Go Pink" game versus Northeast Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Sept. 29 to kick off October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Throughout pre-game Ranger cheerleaders collected donations and invited any supporter to join "Team Northwest" as the squad continues to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "Team Northwest" will participate in the Memphis Race for the Cure on Oct. 29 and has raised more than $700 for the cause so far. Area Ranger cheerleaders working for the cause include:

Area students featured in Meet the Rangers at Northwest

Northwest Mississippi Community college athletes, managers, coaches and performers were recognized at Meet the Rangers held August 25 on the Senatobia campus for their participation in this fall athletic season at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Members of the cheerleading squad were recognized, and the Ranger Band gave a preview performance of this year's halftime show, which features the music of Van Halen. Athletes, managers and head coaches of the football team and both soccer programs were also introduced. Area students recognized were:
