Northwest Mississippi Community College's 2024 Fall Graduates

Northwest Mississippi Community College officials announced that 443 graduates have been awarded degrees and certificates for the Fall 2024 semester. Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on Friday December 13, during the college's 117th Commencement. Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch served as commencement speaker and shared her unique insights and wisdom with the graduates. Fitch is Mississippi's 40th Attorney General and the state's first-ever female Attorney General. She was elected in January of 2020 and was re-elected in 2023. In 2022, Time Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, alongside many other accolades for her accomplished career. Dr. Heindl also surprised the Honorable Fitch with her own degree via reverse transfer from the college where she started her college career many years ago.

As commencement speaker, Dr. Heindl took the stage sharing some words of wisdom with the class of 2024.

Northwest Celebrates Fall 2023 Graduates

Northwest Mississippi Community College officials announced graduates have been awarded degrees and certificates for the Fall 2023 semester. Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on Dec. 8, during the college's 115th Commencement. As commencement speaker, Northwest welcomed Tony Sandridge, a lifelong Tate County resident, and the first African American to sit on the Tate County Board of Supervisors. Currently, Sandridge is serving his fourth term, and he prides himself on being an advocate for the community. Sandridge founded a non-profit organization called "Tate County Bridging the Gap Inc" in 2012.

Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on July 28, during the college's 114th Commencement. Serving as Commencement speaker was Mississippi businesswoman and Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees member, Teresa Hubbard. Hubbard serves as president and CEO of the company she founded, CITE Armored, an armored truck manufacturing company.

Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on May 12, during the college's 113th Commencement. Serving as Commencement speaker for Academic and Career-Technical Education graduation was Kell Smith, executive director of the Mississippi Community College Board. For the School of Health Sciences Commencement, the speaker was Dr. Melissa Temple, director of nursing education at the Mississippi Institution of Higher Learning.

This year, approximately 850 students participated in the graduation exercises, according to the Office of Admissions and Records. Abraham, vice chairman of Client and Business Relations at Cadence Bank, and retired associate vice president of Development and Alumni and executive director at Mississippi State University (MSU) served as commencement speaker at all three ceremonies.

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Nursing held their pinning ceremony December 13, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, celebrating 56 students' completion of the Associate of Arts in nursing. After a processional and invocation lead by Marsha Hopkins, class vice president from Southaven, Dean of Nursing, Ellen Williams, welcomed attendees, presented the faculty and introduced the keynote speaker for the evening, Dr. John Larry Black, emergency department physician, Team Health, who offered the address to the graduates. Williams awarded pins adorned with the Division of Nursing seal as Nursing instructor Olivia Russom presented each of the graduates to the crowd. Area students receiving pins included:
