Northwest MarCom team takes home silver and gold from Regional Conference
Senatobia, MS (10/07/2026) — Northwest Mississippi Community College's Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing won gold and silver Medallion Awards for social media posts and their Instagram page at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations District II Conference on Oct. 1.
"Congratulations to our Strategic Communications team on earning these NCMPR District 2 Medallion Awards," said Vice President of Institutional Affairs Dr. Brad Smith. "Their creativity and dedication bring the Northwest story to life, connecting people with the opportunities our college provides. As we celebrate our Centennial, I'm proud to see their work recognized among the best in community college marketing and communications."
Northwest's Instagram won gold for the social media page's increase in followers, good engagement reach over the past few years, and visual appeal.
"Carly has done an exceptional job strengthening Northwest's presence on social media and finding creative ways to tell the stories of our students, employees and campuses," said Dr. Andrew Dale, associate vice president for Community Relations. "These awards are well-deserved recognition of her creativity, consistency and commitment to representing Northwest at the highest level. I'm incredibly proud of the work she is doing and especially pleased to see her talent recognized by her peers across the region."
Carly Fox-Mayo, assistant director of Marketing and Strategic Communications, said her goal for every platform is to appeal to the audiences who live there. On Instagram that's younger parents, students and prospective students. She does this by prioritizing high-quality photography and graphics that keep people's attention.
"Instagram is our most highly-curated platform, and every post is extremely intentional," said Fox-Mayo. "We strictly post high-quality photography, videography, and graphic design that complement our feed and support our brand's image."
Northwest also won silver for its Facebook posts about the UDA / UCA National Championship from January 2026, utilizing photography taken by Fox-Mayo and Sarah Smith-Hutchinson, communications specialist, who captured the victorious Ranger Cheerleading and Dance teams.
"It is an honor to win gold and silver for social media page and post at NCMPR," said Fox-Mayo. "There are so many wonderful colleges and marketing teams from around the region that compete in this awards conference, so to be able to place among them is very humbling."
