Northwest Mississippi Community College's Division of Nursing celebrated the induction of nursing students into the new National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (N-OADN) Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society on Dec. 8 at the David M. Haraway Center. Fourteen sophomore students received honor cords and pins to commemorate the event.

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Fine Arts Theatre Department is in rehearsals for its next production, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," a musical based on the best selling children's book by Judith Viorst. Viorst wrote the book and the lyrics for the play. The music was written by Shelly Markham.

The Sophomore II Nursing class at Northwest Mississippi Community College collected school supplies for the children of West End Ministries in Hernando.

The newest members of Northwest Mississippi Community College's dance team, the Rangerettes, have been named for the 2014 season, according to Aime Anderson, director of Campus Life and Housing and one of the team's instructors. Area students named to the team include:

The Career-Tech Honors List for the Spring 2014 semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College has been released by college officials. Those students completing 12 or more semester hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a four-point system are on the President's List. The Dean's List includes students completing a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 3.50 to 3.74 average. Named to the Career-Tech Honors List are students who have shown outstanding progress in their field.

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Singers and Chamber Choir are back from their trip to New York City, where they were a part of the premiere performance of Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living" on January 19 in Carnegie Hall's Issac Stern Auditorium. The choirs performed under the direction of Dr. James Meaders. The performance was part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY). Faculty members at Northwest Mississippi Community College have named the college's 2013-2014 Outstanding Students, according to college officials. One outstanding student is chosen by faculty for each major within a department. The student must attend full-time, and only one outstanding student may be chosen for each major. Outstanding students are named on Senatobia, DeSoto Center and Oxford Center campuses. The students will be pictured in the college's yearbook "The Rocketeer" and should report to the appropriate office to have their portrait made for this feature. The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Nursing held their pinning ceremony December 13, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, celebrating 56 students' completion of the Associate of Arts in nursing. After a processional and invocation lead by Marsha Hopkins, class vice president from Southaven, Dean of Nursing, Ellen Williams, welcomed attendees, presented the faculty and introduced the keynote speaker for the evening, Dr. John Larry Black, emergency department physician, Team Health, who offered the address to the graduates. Williams awarded pins adorned with the Division of Nursing seal as Nursing instructor Olivia Russom presented each of the graduates to the crowd. Area students receiving pins included:
